Foothills Gateway Annual Meeting
April 18, 2017
Each year, Foothills Gateway dedicates the March Board of Directors meeting to looking back on the previous year. So, on March 6th, board members, employees and friends gathered together to celebrate and learn more about how things are going.
The highlight of this year’s Annual Meeting was a presentation about an exciting new program at Foothills Gateway – the Early Intervention NICU team. Laura Veradt and Etta Schwartz shared the work that the team has been doing with families and their babies in the PVH NICU. They served 24 families in just the first eight months of the program. As part of their presentation, a parent was also invited to tell the story of her baby, who was served by the NICU team. Ashley Stout shared about the support, care and expertise that the team provided to her baby, as well as the whole family, to make her transition home from the hospital and into services successful. There was hardly a dry eye in the room!
Next, Diana Foland pointed out several highlights from the year that were part of the Annual Report. Some pretty big things happened in 2016…
· Case Managers now have the ability to work remotely so they can deliver more person-centered service.
· CARF made a visit to Foothills this year and renewed our accreditation for another 3-year period.
· We continued to improve how we provide person-centered services.
Diana also outlined some of the financial information from the year, highlighting in particular, the low administration costs at Foothills Gateway. The percentage of expenses dedicated to administration was even lower in 2016 – just 8% of overall revenue – meaning more dollars are going directly to the programs and services we provide.

As with any board meeting, there was business to attend to as well. Katie Fahrenbruch, Board Secretary, lead the team in electing new members who will serve for the upcoming term – a big job!
Finally, the evening wrapped up with a slideshow of photos from the year that show just how much people in services accomplished, side by side with staff, the community and each other. As always, everyone enjoyed being together at the meeting and sharing their experiences, as well as looking forward to the year ahead.
