State Senator Kefalas visits Foothills
On Thursday, Sept. 28th, State Senator John Kefalas stopped by to learn more about Foothills Gateway. His tour was led by Stacy Hill, Jan Irvin and Nathan Scott. The Senator had great questions, feedback and interest in the work and history of Foothills Gateway. The tour included the community skills development program, day program, the pre-vocational work area, and case management. Senator Kefalas serves the people of Senate District 14, which spans Fort Collins. He was the ranking member of the Local Government Committee before being reassigned to the Business, Labor and Technology Committee. He is also a member of the Health and Human Services and Capital Development Committees. In addition, Senator Kefalas serves on the Health Insurance Exchange Oversight Committee and the Behavioral Health Transformation Council. His passion and concern for the work we do is a great reminder of what he stands for in the Colorado Senate.
The Arc of Larimer County celebrated the installation of a motorized changing table for use in the bathroom at Inspiration Playground in Spring Canyon Park…
thanks to the great work of volunteers, Girl Scout Troop 1683 (pictured below), and generous donors including Foothills Gateway. One of the most challenging things about taking an individual with physical disabilities out in the community is finding a bathroom that is accessible. This changing table makes it easier, cleaner and safer. This project is a direct result of a concerned parent who brought it to the attention of the Fort Collins Mayor’s Commission on Disability. From there, our community did what we do best and collaborated to make it happen!
